Control Loader Math Model Software for Aircraft

Servos & Simulation has developed software for feedback control loader systems that accurately replicate the flight controls of various aircraft. The software uses a precise mathematical model of the flight control system for the specific aircraft being simulated. The list below provides a comprehensive list of aircraft models that are supported. The models generally include the following features:

  • Feel Spring
  • Breakout
  • Stops
  • Friction
  • Damping
  • Force Trim (for helicopters)
  • Beep Trim (for fixed-wing aircraft)
  • Stick Shaker
  • Stick Pusher
  • Coupling between Axes
  • Autopilot
  • Boost actuators with hydraulic failure modes
  • Aerodynamic forces on control surfaces
  • Trim tab
  • Servo tab operation
  • Separable aileron controls (for wheels)
  • Separable elevator controls (for columns)
  • Boost failure modes usually include manual reversion, making the aircraft still flyable

Separable aileron controls and elevator controls require a separate control loader actuator for each wheel or column. For two-wheel or two-column control loaders, the connection and disconnection are done through software.

In the case of aircraft with fore and aft cockpits, such as the Apache, the flight controls in the forward cockpit can be connected mechanically or through software to the flight controls in the aft cockpit.

Variables that are returned to the host computer include but are not limited to:

  • Flight control roll angle (wheel or stick)
  • Flight control pitch angle (column or stick)
  • Flight control pedal position
  • Flight control collective stick position (helicopters only)
  • Aileron angle
  • Elevator angle
  • Rudder angle
  • Others available upon request
